The Duomo in Orvieto
600 years in the making… walking towards the Duomo, down the street in front is a magical experience.
To think that this cathedral was started in the 13th century.
The Orvieto Duomo is built in a similar style as the Duomos in Siena and in Firenze, which are all a sight to behold. but Orvieto is the closest to our house.
The bas relief sculpture on either side of the Duomo is beyond belief. On the left is the story of Adam and Eve and the life of Christ. On the right side are the saints, heaven, purgatory and the judgment. Oh my… were they ever trying to scare people and warning them of Hell.
And it is just 40 minutes away along the Tiber River Conservation Area, where there is a dam to manage the waters of Rome in Lago Corbara.
This road is so incredible. This road and the one on the north side of the river are where the Ducati Club of Italy gather, 300 strong, to ride these incredible roads.
